They fixed everything that was needed, and there was only one problem left

Jaguar is in a pretty weird state right now, or even in recent years.

On the one hand it overtook manufacturers like BMW or Audi in creating a completely electric crossover with the iPace and did it even really well, but failed to leverage this innovation to sell enough of it or bring more of its products into the electric arena.

On the other hand, it has gradually diluted its presence in the field of passenger cars (in Israel, but not only) into a single model - the stunning and excellent F-Type, but not exactly the material from which high sales numbers are made.

So the sales burden of this brand is currently borne by two vehicles, the E-Pace and the F-Pace.

The first competes in the group of small crossovers (BMW X1, Volvo XC40, etc.) and the second in front of larger vehicles like the Lexus NX, Genesis GV70, Audi Q5 and others.

And this time we are examining the F-Pace on the occasion of the start of marketing the rechargeable version of its socket in Israel.

The model itself is basically no longer young and with us from 2015 and alongside the Mercedes GLC are the elders of the tribe in terms of show year, when their competitors are fresher.

Not that it is particularly noticeable in its exterior appearance, the choice of design with classic and clean lines allowed her to settle for an imperceptible update to the headlights and grille to keep it fresh.

The one that got a significant boost in the right direction is its cabin, mostly courtesy of the digital dashboard, multimedia screen, array of climate control buttons that combine touch and a physical dial.

All of these along with a few other changes like the new gear selector, excellent human engineering and the response rate of the new multimedia operating system not only made him close a problematic gap he had - in fact he gets one of the finest passenger spaces in his group for driver and passenger.

The business is less attractive at the rear, the space is much narrower and the excellent quality of materials at the front disappears at the touch of the hard plastic of the center console (with air conditioning and charging ports).

The quality of the materials loses some height in the back seat (Photo: Keinan Cohen)

The finish level tested S Plus is the middle of its three finish levels.

There is a very nice list of equipment here, but so is the entry version S. What is surprising is that most of the equipment added here is in the field of advanced safety and it is very unusual and puzzling that a vehicle at its level does not offer adaptive cruise control.

Here, as mentioned, the package is already completely full and joins an excellent Meridian audio system, electric and heated leather seats, compatibility for iPhone and Android and more.

But instrumentation is not the main thing in this car, but its propulsion system.

Jaguar has set the year 2025 as a target for a situation where all of its models are electric or electrified.

And it also means the conversion of existing ones to those that are even partially driven by electricity.

In the case of the F-Pace it means plug-in motor.

The 2.0-liter petrol unit has a 2.0-liter electric motor with a combined power of 404 hp and 65.3 kg that accelerates to four wheels through an 8-speed planetary gearbox.

A 17.1 kWh battery declares a fully electric ride for a range of 53 km.

In its electric mode, the F-Pace moves without a problem at the rate of the flowing movement, you will not feel that you are sacrificing too much due to the choice to move by electric power alone.

In real world conditions we covered 45 km until the petrol engine went into action. When there is enough electricity in the battery and the combination of the two engines can be obtained, a very agile vehicle is obtained, one that forgets and forgets that it weighs a little over two tons (2,114 kg).

When charged with electricity, it produces excellent rhythm and performance (Photo: Keinan Cohen, Ronen Topelberg)

On a winding road as long as it has the full 404 horses it can travel very fast, but not only fast but also fun.

It has been a long time since I drove one of them, but he reminded me very quickly that Jaguars knew and still know how to give their cars a sense of lightness, accuracy and cliché - cats in the way they react to the driver, turn and accelerate back.

The celebration moderates significantly after the electric juice is drained from the battery.

Suddenly when something like 150 hp and about half the torque retires from the business but the pounds remain, it is already much less fast between turns and with much less vigor. Even at

a

slower pace, it was very enjoyable to continue to take advantage of the combination of an excellent chassis, a propulsion system that prefers sending power to the rear wheels and an accurate steering wheel, even with much less power.

In sport mode, most of the power is directed to the rear wheels for sharper road behavior (Photo: Keinan Cohen, Ronen Topelberg)

For the rest of the administrative driving time, the one where he will spend most of his life, he is a pleasant and very comfortable civilized companion to cover great distances.

Its noise isolation is excellent, thanks to the use of an active noise cancellation mechanism, i.e. sending a sound at a counter frequency to the external noises to eliminate or eliminate as many of them as possible.

The adaptive shocks that left it level on the winding road give it a very good absorbency when choosing the comfort mode and the rest of the time these are its excellent front seats that allow for very long sitting and still go down fresh even after a 270km almost consecutive blitz.

Fuel consumption in road tests is influenced by the nature of driving in the intense days in the car, but gives an approximate idea of what is given in the real world.

In plug cars this is not an even more problematic issue, as using them with the use of daily charging and driving through the battery a few tens of miles a day changes the results from end to end.

The combined consumption achieved by the F-Pace in our driving conditions was 10 km per liter.

Still packed with a very nice look (Photo: Keinan Cohen)

The facelift that Jaguar delivered the model and the pairing of rechargeable hybrid propulsion was a necessary and necessary step.

The result is a car that retains the characteristics that made it as unique and different as the road manners and exclusivity of a model whose minority of items on the road makes it quite rare.

Its propulsion unit is efficient and also gives it excellent performance and with proper use fantastic fuel consumption, to which are added very good ride comfort and excellent driver environment.

On the other hand, with a price tag of NIS 542,000, it is priced well above excellent competitors such as the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and others that also offer plug-in propulsion.

Therefore the end result is that despite the compliments he receives, it is difficult to see any special justification for such a gap in front of well-established tools and therefore in the bottom line it is also difficult to see him deviating from the same small clientele that has acquired him so far.
