"It is absurd that in the meeting between the government and the social partners the obligation to wear a mask has been reduced: it does not make sense to reduce health protection at a time when the Covid-19 epidemic is increasing exponentially".
The Nobel laureate Giorgio Parisi told ANSA, referring to the decision taken on 30 June in the Protocol for updating anti-Covid measures in the workplace and made known by the Ministry of Labor after the discussion with the ministries of Health and Economic Development, Inail and social partners.
The Covid-19 epidemic in Italy has entered a "zone of
clear solid and constant exponential increase for almost two weeks
," said Parisi, who has been following the trend of the pandemic since its inception.
"We are in a serious situation, in which cases double in just over ten days and begin to have effects also on hospitalizations, which in 10 days could exceed 10,000 in ordinary wards, while admissions to intensive care units have doubled compared to one month ago".
It is therefore possible that hospitals may return "to a situation of suffering".
