A man and a woman, both teachers in a college in Tarbes, were shot dead in a small village in the Hautes-Pyrénées: the first at home and the second in a nearby street, we learned on Tuesday from of the prosecution, which opened an investigation for double homicide.
The alleged perpetrator "is on the run, he could not be arrested for the moment," Tarbes prosecutor Pierre Aurignac told AFP, without giving details of his identity.
The woman, who was 32, was found late Monday afternoon lying in a street in Pouyastruc by neighbors who alerted the gendarmes.
Arrived on the spot, the latter discovered a 55-year-old man, deceased in his house, a few meters further.
Autopsies in the next few days
At this stage, the prosecutor refused to give details on the possible motivations of these crimes and it is not known what the link between the two professors was.
The investigation, for double homicide, was entrusted to the research brigade of Tarbes and the research section of Toulouse, underlined Mr. Aurignac.
The autopsies of the victims will be performed in the coming days at the Forensic Institute of Toulouse.
