One of the highlights of the Carmiel Festival takes place tonight at 9 pm: 12 dance troupes will take the stage at the old and beloved festival and compete against each other in the choreography competition "Dancing Raichel".

This is one of the main performances of the festival - a choreography competition for the all-time works of Idan Raichel performed by the best dance groups in Israel and hosted by Anna Aronov.

As part of the competition, Idan Raichel will also perform some of his songs live.

The judges in the competition are Keren Carmel (head of the dance section at the Ministry of Culture and Sports), Eldad Grofi (director of the Inbal Dance Theater), Eli Mizrahi (international judge for ballroom dancing, choreographer, coach and dancer in the "Carmon" and "Batsheva" bands), Susie Koninsky (representative of the leadership, lawyer and dance instructor) and Gil Shochat (musician, composer, conductor, pianist and Israeli lecturer in musicology). The show is directed by Gadi Bitton and Deganit Rom.

"Israel's big dance celebration kicked off yesterday for the 35th year, with tens of thousands of dancers from around the country, young and old dance groups, tribute performances and many guest artists coming to the city, including Rita, Harel Skaat, Idan Raichel, Roni Dalumi, Batsheva Band and judges." Dancing with the Stars "Anna Aronov and Eli Mizrahi.

The festival attracts tens of thousands of spectators each year who enjoy a celebration of music and dance.
