For those who do not know, this coming Sunday is International Emoji Day, in honor of which we get a glimpse of the emotions that are about to enter our lives in the next update of the operating systems.
The Unicode Consortium, the official body responsible for approving emojis as well, presented a draft version 15.0, which this year contains only 31 new emojis, a relatively poor crop compared to previous years (for comparison, in 2020 334 new emojis were offered).
Among the innovations that will be presented this year to emotion users can be found fun (high five, open palm with fingers close together), shaky face and wireless emoji.
The trembling face is primarily intended for shock responses, or alternatively may be received as a signal for an earthquake sensation.
The palm will appear in versions of right and left separately, drawn in profile so that it is possible to send two hands in a row for a fun mark, or just one of them as a rejection mark or "not interested".
And finally, we will also get a much needed emoji for Levi Pei.
Surprisingly, so far there has been no dedicated sign for Levi Pei and anyone who wanted to mark a wireless connection was forced to use a column emoji - originally intended for a cellular signal.
Among the new emojis, you will find more shades for hearts (light blue, gray and pink), pea pod, marx (the rattles associated with Latin music), shepherd's flute, ginger root, fan and a variety of new animals including a blue jellyfish , Goose, black bird that looks like a raven, donkey, deer and angel wings.
The draft is preliminary and may change by September, the date it will be signed.
The actual emojis themselves will be seen on our phones during 2022-2023, with updates to the operating systems.
