The internet was in a storm yesterday after the members of the Spanish group Trived uploaded a video to the internet in which they can be seen defacing the Israeli flag to the tune of one of their songs.

The video was shot at the Zyget festival in Budapest, apparently after the duo left the stage - and went viral.

This is a disturbing video, a band at a major music festival - where Israeli artists also perform - goes out in a violent and rather ugly way against Israel, including a painting of a male genitalia next to the Star of David.

Still, you should put things in proportion.

If you have never heard of "Tribed" you are in good company.

At the Ziget festival, hundreds of artists appear over several days on dozens of parallel stages.

The duo from Barcelona went up at 11:00 PM for a performance on the small "courtyard stage", the one where rap and hip-hop artists from around the world come up.

It's nice to hear the night of languages changing throughout the evening, but this is really not the place where the important performances of the hot artists are slotted.

If the band had announced on stage "Free Palestine", probably no one would have heard about it.

In fact, it could be that they did it and no one just heard about it because no one cared.

It took an extreme and ugly act like vandalizing a flag to stir up the network a little.

In the evening, the official and proper announcement of the festival arrived, according to which Tribad violated the basic values of Ziget.

The people of the festival stated that they want to promote the values of love and peace for decades.

They strongly condemned the act and announced unequivocally that the band would not be invited to the festival in the future.

All is well that ends well.

This time the IDF didn't even have to intervene.

And somehow, Channel 13 decided to take this little story, and identify processes in it.

"Anti-Semitism at the festival in Hungary", screamed the headline in the main edition where it was revealed that another Israeli flag at the festival had the word "Fuck" written on it.

Is writing "Fuck" on the Israeli flag an anti-Semitic act?

This is a valid question, but one that at the very least needs to be wrapped in the right context.

For example, it is worth giving a small reminder that just a week ago a military operation was conducted in Gaza, something that arouses unpleasant feelings against Israel in Europe.

There is a lot of ignorance and hypocrisy regarding Israel on the part of Europeans, but it is rarely anti-Semitism.

In the sixth edition, Amnon Levy managed to bring the difficult voices from the field, through a video interview with Or Ben Gozi, a young woman who spent time at the festival.

For the avoidance of doubt, the nice Or did not watch Tribad's performance, and it is likely that she had not even heard of the band before Amnon Levy asked to interview her as a commentator on flag desecration matters.

The excited interviewee told how the incident caused unpleasant feelings, and you can definitely believe her.

No one wants to travel to see Arctic Monkeys, Dua Lipa and Justin Bieber at a festival and end up being interviewed by Amnon Levy.

Levy really interrogated the interviewee and tried to extract from her details about the ugly prank without her having too much to say.

Levy did not ask for the festival's response, and certainly not the band's response.

We were given no background to the event, no attempt to understand the motive of the activist band girls.

What does it matter?

There is no way to justify anti-Semitism, and once we have established that it is an anti-Semitic act, there is no reason at all to try to look for a motive.

It was a supreme whining class by a major media outlet against desecration of the flag.

And it's not that Amnon Levy didn't have time to deal with the question that definitely deserves discussion - "What makes European intellectuals attack Israel?"

- Fact, he had time for an article of more than 10 minutes in memory of his uncle Topaz, who committed suicide 13 years ago in his prison cell.

The article, which did not mention a round anniversary (and not even the anniversary itself, which will be held on Shabbat) did not update anything beyond Topaz's Wikipedia page.

On the other hand, it is good to occasionally show Dodo Topaz on TV to remind that the feeling as if worse TV has never been made in Israel than in 2022 is completely false.

in the small

Last week the children's series "All is well" appeared on yes, the plot of which takes place behind the scenes of a news broadcast.

The series, which is intended for ages 4-6, easily won over my daughter, who was excited to finally see what this "edition" is that mom and dad watch every night.

Kobi Faraj as the host of the edition, Yaniv Suisa as the forecaster and especially Shifi Aloni as the make-up artist give a great comic display - but unfortunately the reality in Israel exceeds all imagination, and there is no fictional situation that can appear in a children's program that cannot also exist in the main edition of one of the largest media outlets in Israel .

In the children's series, at least, everyone seems to have good intentions.
