Hinting that this is the only example of the brand founded in 1913 in Indianapolis by the German brothers Frederick and August Duesenberg that has ever been bodyworked by Figoni, Concours president Sandra Button commented "This rare Duesenberg marries American power with the European style ".
In the final, the splendid Torpedo - dressed in the 1930s by the Italian coachbuilder Giuseppe Figoni, who had moved to France and who in 1935 was joined by Ovidio Falaschi - prevailed over other 'jewels' such as the Talbot-Lago T150C-SS Figoni & Falaschi Fritz Burkard's 1937 Teardrop Coupé, Sam and Emily Mann's 1930 Duesenberg J Graber Cabriolet and Merle and Peter Mullin's 1951 Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport Cabriolet Stabilimenti Farina.
The 72nd edition of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance will take place on Sunday 20 August 2023 and will celebrate the famous coachbuilder Giuseppe Figoni and the Spanish brand Pegaso.
Further highlights next year include the Invicta brand, Mercedes-Benz S, SS and SSK series, McLaren, Alvis and the 1950s American Dream Cars category.
