The Find X5 Pro, OPPO's new flagship device, should have been the Find X4 Pro if China didn't believe that the number 4 brings bad luck.

The new device was already announced in February - but only last week it made its way to Israel in an official Ronlight import, and we have already received it for review.

As last year, the Chinese manufacturer chose to put the emphasis on the photography system, which includes a pair of 50 megapixel quality lenses, but decided to forgo a fairly original feature.

And what else will you get and is it worth the money?

We checked.

Screen, structure and design

The screen of the Find X5 Pro comes in a size of 6.7 inches, with an AMOLED panel with a QHD resolution.

In addition, it includes a refresh rate of 120 Hz (which has already become standard) with a coating of Gorilla Glass Victus.

In the upper and left part of the screen there is a small camera hole, while in the lower middle part you can unlock the device using a fingerprint scanner, whose operation has proven to be very fast and accurate.

The screen itself is convex on both sides, but it is only a slight curvature, not one that interferes with use or distorts the display.

In any case, the AMOLED screen looks excellent and displays a very high brightness (1300nits), which allows it to be used in direct sunlight - an excellent match for the Israeli weather conditions.

The design is almost completely identical to the previous generation, but on the other hand, an improved photography system has been integrated here that has already won compliments (we will get to it later).

Overall, the device comes in at 8.5mm thick, or 8.8mm including the camera bump.

However, this is not a particularly light device - 218 grams before you put a cover on it.

The back of the Finx 5 Pro is shiny, slippery and manages to magnetize fingerprints.

What else should you know?

In its lower part is a single speaker, the SIM card tray and a USB-C socket for charging, data transfer and sound.

OPPO, like the other manufacturers, abandoned the traditional headphone jack.

As requested, on the right side of the phone is the power button, and on the left side are the volume keys.

interface and performance

The operating system here is Android 12 overlaid with OPPO's ColorOS 12.1 interface.

This is a version that comes already after the union with OnePlus's OxygenOS interface, where the most striking thing is that all the apps are both on the home pages and in the app drawer.

In any case, the version does not fall short of the experience provided by clean Android: the menus are well organized and designed, the colors are pleasing to the eye and the interface includes a variety of different finger gestures that help to gain more intuitive control.

As befits a flagship smartphone, the Find X5 Pro is a fast smartphone.

very fast

OPPO integrated a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, along with 12 gigabytes of RAM, 256 gigabytes of storage and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports super-fast charging (SuperVOOC) with a maximum power of 80 watts.

It also comes with a super fast fingerprint sensor located under the screen and support for the fifth generation (5G) network.

Advanced photography setup

Let's start with the worst part:

the "microscope" sensor from the previous generation that is able to take pictures very close and with a huge magnification of up to 60 times - is no longer with us.

Why?

It is not clear.

In any case, in the photography category, OPPO collaborates with the Swedish company Hasselblad, which allows, among other things, the use of Hasselblad's color calibration capabilities.

In fact, the triple camera setup is one of the best we've tested in the last year.

There are two 50-megapixel Sony cameras here with optical stabilization (OIS) and an aperture key of f/1.7.

and f/2.2.

Next to them is a 13 megapixel telephoto sensor with up to 2x optical zoom. The

images we captured in good lighting conditions are unprecedented in their quality even when viewed on larger screens (for example, a computer).

They include an extremely high level of detail, sharpness, excellent colors and true to the original, when even in less favorable lighting conditions the sensors knew how to handle well and correct the light through HDR support.

High-quality images are also displayed on larger screens.

In the bottom line

In three words: fans will not be disappointed.

For a little more: the device is sold as an official import of Ronlight at a price of NIS 3,400 and unlike most Chinese manufacturers, the device that OPPO defines as a "flagship device" really feels like one.

This is a smartphone that provides high performance, including first-class specifications, an excellent camera and a spectacular screen.
