The victims had been stabbed at 13 different locations in the province of Saskatchewan, in the mid-west of the country.

Ten people were killed and at least 18 others were injured in the indigenous community of James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby town of Weldon.

Two brothers from the region, Damien and Myles Sanderson, are suspected of having spread terror on Sunday in this village and the one next door, before fleeing.

Since then, a vast manhunt was organized by the authorities.

On Monday, the body of Damien Sanderson, 31, was discovered with stab wounds near one of the localities where the murders took place.

The circumstances of his death remain to be clarified, but he could have been killed by his own brother.

Known to the police and the justice system for acts of violence, Myles Sanderson, 30, was already wanted since last May for not having respected his judicial control.
