Today, the Israeli market receives another Chinese brand in the chain of manufacturers that break through the Chinese wall on the way to the West and make Israel a stop on the way there.

MG, which has been based here for years, was also joined by GAC, JAC, Ceres, Skywall, AIWAYS, Maxus, Geely and others in addition to those that will land here in the future.

The product levels, as usual in China, are very diverse and alongside vehicles with European and global ambitions, there were those that presented much less convincing products when almost all of them lacked the greatest safety level.

Now BYD is added to this list and its promise is to integrate a car manufacturer that has already gained some mileage in building cars, but more than that, is one of the leading and largest battery suppliers in the world including production for other manufacturers, including Tesla.

But to be clear, the one who runs the Israeli car market today is one word - inventory.

And the importer who can attach the magic words "immediate delivery" to his products is the king.

A declared range of 420 km, modest than the competition (photo: Tomer Feder)

At the base of BYD's offering in Israel is the ATTO 3, a crossover that will compete with the Geely Geometric C and the electric MG ZS.

It differs from the two in that the basis here is an electric vehicle and not a conversion of an existing car.

With 446 cm in length and 272 in the wheelbase, it marks a small size advantage against the Geely, but in the trunk it already registers a significant difference - 440 liters, which is 100 liters more than the Geometric C. The equipment list includes a 5-inch digital dashboard and a screen Multimedia 12.8 or 15.6 depending on the trim level (without Apple or Android compatibility), rear air conditioning ports, leather-like upholstery for the electric and heated seats, 360 cameras, panoramic roof and wireless charging. The higher trim level also offers electric opening for the trunk. The safety equipment includes automatic braking ( forwards and in reverse), adaptive cruise control, warning of a vehicle in a "dead zone", lane deviation correction and more.

The ATTO 3 is powered by an engine with 204 hp and 31.6 kgf connected to the front wheels.

The performance is 7.4 seconds to 100 km/h without details of the maximum speed.

At the bottom of the vehicle are the company's BLADE batteries with a capacity of 60.5 kWh and the declared range is 420 km. A little less than those declared by its direct competitors. The support positions DC speed is up to 90 kW, which according to the manufacturer will bring it from 30 to 80% in half an hour.

The price of the ATTO 3 starts at NIS 156,000 for the Comfort trim level and NIS 165,000 for the

more equipped design. Warranty: 4 years or 120,000 km for the car, 8 years or 200 thousand km for the battery and 8 years or 150 thousand km for the engine.

Tang, 7 seats on a fixed platform (photo: manufacturer's website)

BYD's second vehicle is the Tang, here it is a large crossover with 487 from bumper to bumper and a wheelbase of 282 cm, which leaves a volume of 235 liters for the trunk when all the seats are in use (or 940 when the third row is folded).

The list of accessories includes a heated steering wheel, dashboard 12.3-inch digital indicators, leather upholstery, electricity, ventilation and heating for the front seats, also here a rotating screen for horizontal or vertical display measuring 12.8 inches, wireless charging, panoramic roof, climate control with 3 zones and air conditioning outlets for the rear seats, keyless entry and drive.

The safety features include automatic braking, rear collision warning, blind spot warning, cross traffic warning when reversing, adaptive cruise control, but no lane departure correction.

Heated, ventilated and electric seats (photo: manufacturer's website)

The TANG comes with a respectable power unit, two electric motors with a capacity of 518 hp and 69.3 kg which are transferred to the ground in dual drive.

The performance matches the generous power - 4.6 seconds to 100 km/h and 180 km/h maximum.

The battery with a capacity of 86.4 kWh is enough for a declared range of 400 km.

Here you can charge in fast positions up to 110 kilowatts and under these conditions it will reach from 30 to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

The price: NIS 284,000

and the dimensions currently place it without direct competitors in the electric world, but in front of 7-seater gasoline engine crossovers such as the Kia Sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe.

The warranty is for 5 years or 100 thousand km for the vehicle, 8 years or 160 thousand km for the batteries and 5 years or 100 thousand km for the drive unit.

BYD Han, a sedan with top performance (photo: manufacturer's website)

The third model is the "Han" also like the TANG a model converted to electric drive of a gasoline car.

With 5 meters (499.5 cm) end to end and a wheelbase of 292 cm the BYD Han is strictly a saloon sedan with a compromise mainly in the 410 liter trunk.

In terms of equipment, it more or less overlaps that of the TANG, Nappa upholstery and electric and heated seats, the driver's is also ventilated and, as befits a saloon car, the passenger's seat can be adjusted from the back row of seats to increase the legroom.

The 12.3-inch digital dashboard, head-up display, control of the multimedia from the central armrest at the back, electric opening and closing of the trunk, as in the other models, there is also the gimmick of the 15.6-inch rotating multimedia screen, the climate control is split into two zones and there are air conditioning outlets per row the rear.

Like the crossover, it also has Brembo brakes, unlike it, it is equipped with the ability to operate electrical appliances with an external connection.

The safety systems have adaptive cruise control, automatic braking when driving forward and cross traffic warning when driving backwards, warning of a vehicle in a "dead zone", lane deviation correction including maintaining the center of the lane, adaptive cruise control and more.

The propulsion system in the Han is the same as in the TANG, two electric motors that create a dual drive and drop 518 horses and 71.4 kg. At 2,250 kg it is 200 kg lighter than the TANG and the acceleration to 100 km/h is Finishing in just 3.9 seconds, the top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

Due to the reduced weight and superior drag coefficient over the TANG, it is also able to display a better driving range, here the 85.4 kWh batteries allow it to travel 521 km "m, at least according to the manufacturer's statement. The charging capabilities are the same as those of the TANG, as well as the warranty.

The Han price is 300 thousand shekels.
