As its pompous name suggests, nowadays the Plaza de Toros de la Real Mastranza in Seville serves as one of the most famous bullfighting arenas in the world, and certainly the oldest of them.

It's amazing to think that this ancient and cruel custom still exists, and for which spectacular and impressive amphitheaters were installed.

But the popularity of these events is waning, and the buildings intended for them are now used for many other things.

This was also the case last Thursday, when the Italian singer and romantic Eros Ramzotti launched his new world tour to a love-struck audience.

The dissonance between the original purpose of the building in Seville and the charisma and passion that Ramzotti brings with it, were evident from the moment we entered the place.

Eros himself, who seems to have been paved to his status by the very name given to him by his parents, the name of the god of love and passion in Greek mythology, is an avowed animal lover.

His very presence there, even behind the scenes, transforms the violence and the sorrow of the animals into the grace and soul that are naturally associated with music.

The audience at the venue was mainly composed of women who chanted the singer's name in a certain tune - like a mantra, "A-Ross, "A-Ross" - and couples squatting. Even before we got to our seats, such a couple stood and hummed along the path, the man cupped the woman's bottom. Throughout For the two hours or so after that, these displays of love and warmth will continue to be seen from every direction.

A show of love.

Ramzotti himself came up exactly at the appointed time and immediately began to sing.

Every move in the song, every change in the lighting, produced applause from the audience.

Female fans continued to chant "A-Ross, A-Ross" in Noel's attempt to overpower the music.

You don't need to know Italian or Spanish to understand the spirit blowing from his words.

Already in the first song, the new "Battito infinito", the bass hit the chest so appropriately, because this is precisely the area Ramzotti is aiming for.

In the same way, throughout the performance EKG records appeared on the screens behind him, and at one point also an illustration of a beating human heart.

This is the theme song of his new album that the tour is designed to promote - "Eternal Heartbeat". Indeed. After a 35-year career, millions Copies sold of his albums and numerous awards he won, Eros Ramzotti still maintains his status as a sex symbol. His belly has grown a little, but it doesn't really matter. This love he receives from the audience cannot be faked. Time and time again he enchants the women, and the truth is that some A lot of the men.

He stands in the center of a beautiful, beautifully designed stage, on which his band is scattered from the far right side - where his two talented backing singers stand, who also occasionally join him for duets and earn a lot of respect from him - to the far left side, which includes two drum sets and two drummers.

They all sound simply excellent, sweeping, epic, dramatic.

Ramzotti himself, who always sings in his mother tongue as well as in Spanish versions for the benefit of the language speakers in Europe and Latin America, does not enslave himself to melodrama, but makes sure to demonstrate lightness.

He makes the audience laugh all the time, stops the show to talk after someone throws her bra at him, challenges his saxophonist to imitate the skits that Ramzotti makes up on the spot, activates the crowd with "ah oh" and "oh ah" that come back to him like an echo.

The thousands in front of him surrender to him, sing with him, move with him.

One of the most captivating moments of the show came when the singer called someone named Marcel from the stage and asked him to come on stage with his partner Wendy.

The two, it turns out, are Ramzotti's childhood friends who celebrated their silver wedding that evening at his concert.

While they were sitting there next to him, he dedicated three love songs to them.

Is there anything more charming than that?

As mentioned, the performance in Spain launches a world tour.

The first leg of the round is held on five of the oldest and most prestigious stages in the world, including the amphitheater in Caesarea.

Of course, among the singer's greatest hits after decades of career, he also performs new songs in concert, and in fact revealed to the audience in Seville for the first time some of them before the album was officially released the next day.

One of them is "Cada vez que respiro", composed by legendary musician Ennio Morricone, who passed away in 2020.

At the end of the song his picture appeared on the giant screen and the singer bowed to him.

Of course, the encore - to which Ramzotti returned after more chants of "a-ros" - ended with the huge hit "La cosa más bella", which left the thousands in ecstasy and sent them home giddy.

This is also what the Israeli audience can expect, when Ramzotti comes to two shows on October 6 and 8, 2022. If romance is your thing, you can purchase tickets here.
