The French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) warned Wednesday of a "start of fire" inside a workshop of the Framatome factory in Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) containing uranium.
This is a sensitive nuclear site, the plant manufactures fuel assemblies for power plants.
“An intervention by the site's internal security teams is underway.
The fire would be brought under control and there would be no risk of radioactivity”, indicates the ASN, warned at 5:10 p.m. by the company.
According to France Bleu, the fire was detected at 4:25 p.m.
As a precaution, the internal emergency plan was therefore activated.
All factory employees were evacuated, as well as those in nearby buildings.
"This fire has no impact on the safety of the facilities," said Framatome in a press release.
