The Rhône prefecture announced on Wednesday the administrative closure for three months of a People & Baby network crèche in Lyon, after a fire started on Tuesday during which children were stranded inside the establishment. .
This decision comes three months after the death in a permanently closed crèche of the same group in Lyon of an 11-month-old girl, probably killed by an employee who made her ingest a caustic product.
She explained that she had been "exceeded by her tears" according to the prosecution.
The closure decided on Wednesday of this crèche in the 4th arrondissement of Lyon will make it possible “to verify that the operating conditions of the establishment comply with the legislative and regulatory provisions and guarantee respect for the health, physical or mental or the education of the children welcomed. “, according to the press release from the prefecture.
Late Tuesday afternoon, the firefighters intervened at "Lunes et Toiles", a bilingual crèche of Peuple & Baby, alerted by the staff to the start of a fire, they told AFP.
No child harmed
Still according to the firefighters, children would have lit an electric plate on which were placed a few tea towels, which would then have started to burn, giving off a “very slight smoke”.
The two assistants would then have gone out with six children, but had not been able to recover four others, who remained inside, because the door was blocked.
Quickly on the spot, the firefighters finally recovered the children after breaking the door.
None of them were injured and no hospitalization was required.
