You will not reach the moon until the age of 21: As we all remember, the "Bereshit" mission of launching an Israeli spaceship to the moon, suffered a fatal blow at the last moment when, in the last dozens of meters before landing, contact with the spaceship was lost, and it crashed on the surface of the moon.

But that didn't stop the people of the SpaceIL association from defining the "Genesis 2" mission, which will be even more ambitious than the first mission, and whose cost is estimated at 100 million dollars.

This time, the Israeli association plans to launch an orbital spacecraft (orbiter) to the moon that will enter a satellite orbit around the moon, and from there launch two landers to its face, which will carry scientific instruments with them and perform experiments on the surface of the moon.

If the mission is successful, Israel will join a small and prestigious club of countries that managed to land on the moon.

One of the tools is a hyperspectral camera developed at Ben Gurion University in the Negev.

The uniqueness of the camera, which was developed by Prof. Adrian Stern, Prof. Dan Blumberg, Prof. Stanley Rothman and Dr. Yitzhak August, is the ability to compress the optical information that will be transmitted back to Earth. The camera, known as a sensor, will be able to clearly map the geology and composition The minerals on the surface of the moon The project was licensed to the Noohra company, which is working on the development of the unique camera together with the Israeli ISI company.

The sensor covers over 100 different wavelengths in the visible light and near infrared ranges (similar to the cameras installed in the Webb Space Telescope), it has a high resolution and will photograph from "Beresheit 2" selected areas on the lunar surface, including areas to which until now access was limited such as the poles and sides others of our little satellite that have yet to be fully explored.

Prof. Dan Blumberg, vice president of the university, head of the remote sensing laboratory and chairman of the Israel Space Agency, told "Walla!": "The flight into space of 'Bereshit 2' is a national mission and Ben-Gurion University was mobilized to help with its research goals.

The science that exists at Ben-Gurion and the other universities is a basis for breakthroughs in all areas of life."

Dr. Jimmy Levy, co-founder of Noohra, added: "We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Genesis 2 mission and are excited to be able to demonstrate the unique capabilities of our imaging system...We very much look forward to sharing the data collected by the system Our hyperspectral imaging with scientists and students around the world to deepen our understanding of the physical and chemical processes on the surface of the Moon.

This is a first step for Noohra, and a big step forward for exploring the lunar surface."
