"Getting Celebs": Eyal Golan is in the headlines again and Channel 14 knows exactly why - voila! culture

2022-11-16T06:59:22.088Z

For nine years the media has been dealing with the sex issue of the most famous singer in Israel. His career was unscathed, but his name was tarnished. In the program "The Patriots" they know why this happened.

In the video: T. and N., two of the complainants who filed a complaint against Eyal Golan (Walla system!)

1.

In 2012, Eyal Golan won the title of singer of the year in all the chorus charts.

It was after the great album, "You Touched My Heart", with the perfect theme song, which I admit - I haven't gotten over it to this day.

Although all.

If it feels like ancient history to you, it's because it really was a long time ago.

This was about the last time that Eyal Golan was a net musical symbol.

One could like his songs or not - but one could not ignore his contribution to the musical revolution he led in the country.

A year later, when the investigation into the social games case was opened, Eyal Golan's name was tarnished forever.

We will not go into the details again, because they seem to be known to everyone, but the bottom line is: nine years have passed and we are still dealing with this case.

We have gone to elections six times since then.

We won Eurovision.

A light rail is established in Tel Aviv.

Dozens of Israeli civilians were murdered in the attacks.

Apartment prices have soared by crazy percentages - and we are still talking about Eyal Golan.

Investigations were conducted on him in all the media, he was interviewed dozens of times on the matter, and he even had time to father three children from two different women and confess as part of a plea deal in tax evasion - but the "affair" still exists.

With the exception of Prime Minister-designate Netanyahu, it is difficult to think of another public figure whose criminal investigations continue parallel to his professional and personal life for such a long period of time, and with such an extensive level of coverage.

On the purity of testosterone.

No wonder, then, that two camps were formed around the Golan affair as well.

On the one hand, those who support the complaints.

And on the other hand, the supporters of the Golan.

Yesterday, during the morning hours, a group of several dozen people arrived to lovingly accompany the complainants on their way to a confrontation with the police, and right in front of them stood a smaller group of Eyal Golan supporters.

Those who thought the supporters were there because they liked his music (as if that was a reason to support an alleged sex offender) quickly discovered that the support for him was political.

Among other things, those who support Golan asked why they don't investigate a senior minister from the Lapid government, for rumors that surfaced against him online.

Supporters of Golan made claims as if he was being investigated because of his origin and the style of music he promotes, a claim that was repeated, not coincidentally, also in the coverage of the affair on Channel 14. The entertaining panel of the "Patriots" (which last night consisted only of men, probably as a tribute to Netanyahu's intended testosterone government) was decisive In that dealing with the affair is unnecessary, and it follows from the fact that it is a celebrity.

The show's host Yanon Magal, who himself was involved in a case of a sexual nature in the past and had to resign from the Knesset as a result, was adamant about the matter: "The whole point is to bring down celebs. That's the point. Yedioth Ahronoth invented the method, appoint someone, make him king - and then kill him. It The game is here, everyone enjoys killing celebs. Eyal Golan is a huge celeb and they just kill him. That's all. I don't say, 'was, wasn't', fine, you already killed him. You defamed him. You humiliated him. He has children, he has a family. How much, how much is possible?"

As part of the channel's famous plurality of opinions, Dror Kapah chose to agree with the host in a total way, and even emphasized that it was a celebrity.

Fairness requires stating that this is not a game of black and white.

Claiming that "they killed Eyal Golan" is simply a lie.

Golan's career was not harmed, and even the opposite.

Since the affair broke, he managed to star in three different TV shows on the channel that is watched in Israel, he returned to conquer the song charts, and only in the last year - despite the reopening of the case - he filled in for Bloomfield twice.

And on the other hand, it can be argued that it is precisely because of his success that they continue to "search" for him.

Friend and double.

How many are looking for him?

Yesterday, Golan arrived at the police station together with a number of associates, one of whom is his good friend Kafir Agassi, who has already been nicknamed "Eyal Golan's double".

The nickname is justified.

Agassi looks like someone didn't hear a warning from some old Chinese sage and fed Golan after midnight.

A rumor started online that Golan had hired a double to mislead the media and enter the police headquarters under the noses of the journalists.

The latter made sure to echo the rumor, or at least not cancel it.

In practice, as it turned out in the end, Golan did not need any double (certainly not a paid one) and simply entered the parking lot with his car with the permission of the police, who probably wanted to spare the media festival.

Too bad, if the Golan could be so easily duplicated, it would be much easier to reach a peace agreement with Syria.

We should wait until the court decides on the criminal issue, but already now we can at least agree that the huge media interest in the case is one of the reasons for its reopening.

An ordinary person who never won the title of "singer of the year" would not bother to open the investigation file eight years after it was closed and invite him to a confrontation.

Quite a few journalists worked hard to present the problematic conduct of the police and the prosecutor's office in the original investigation, to say the least.

This is exactly the vacuum in which journalism is supposed to exist.

to find injustices and present them to the public in order to correct them.

But it remains only to ask, where is this welcome mobilization of the media on less "sexy" issues?

What other public wrong gets nine years of continuous coverage?

Harming the elderly?

The situation in the preschool education system?

The violence on the roads?

Even victims of sexual assault who were not harmed by famous singers but just vile rapists?

I wish that a day would come and such things would receive the volume of coverage of Eyal Golan.

The most fascinating moment.

2.

The 25th Knesset was sworn in yesterday at a good time.

Until recently, it was a festive ceremony, one that was held once every few years.

But we have already experienced this "democracy holiday" five times in the last three years, so the festivity was replaced by a yawn.

The politicians themselves did not exactly help to improve the situation.

The members of the apparent opposition have continued their mourning mask since the day of the elections, with only Marev Michaeli continuing to attack and blabber herself with speeches full of pathos and lacking awareness of her status, even in front of her voters.

There doesn't seem to be too much interest on the side of the winners either, with all the MKs trying to keep a poker face while they talk about the apparent division of ministerial portfolios.

The most "fascinating" moment of the entire day of special broadcasts from the Knesset was recorded when Rafi Rashef got confused and mistakenly addressed a faculty member as "Yair Sharki".

It did not remain obliged, and returned the transmission to him with the secret words: "Thank you Yonith".

is funny.

What was less funny was Dafna Lial's rather dry report on the plan of Netanyahu's preferred coalition, which will work to pass the enhancement clause in the Bezeq legislation with the support of 61 MKs, something that will allow the law to be passed for training Deri (reminder: a convicted tax offender with a suspended prison sentence ) as the Minister of Finance without fear that the High Court could disqualify his appointment - and all this before the government was sworn in.

It was quite amazing to see how Lial, who in right-wing circles like to accuse her of being left-wing due to her family connection, simply reports on the plan for a quick change of the regime in Israel as if she were talking about the increase in fuel prices.

The words "increasing paragraph" are thrown into the air as if it were the weather forecast.

To Lial's credit, she clarified that she does not believe that this will be possible until the government is sworn in - but the problem is not the time it will take to destroy Israeli democracy, but the very fact that this is the work plan of the incoming government.

refreshing.

3.

Among the boring interviewees, Knesset member Miki Zohar should be mentioned favorably, who, unlike his other partners in the incoming government, did not choose to play the ambiguity game.

In an interview with Yaakov Bardugo on Channel 14, he did not deny that he was destined for the position of Minister of Culture and Sports, and even responded to the words of Knesset member Smotrich regarding the football games on Saturday - and already chose the diplomatic and state route, when he explained that, like all over the world, it is better for members of the government to interfere as little as possible in the management of sports.

Which is very true, by the way.

If he does get the position, for the first time a politician who has a direct connection to both areas will enter the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

While everyone knows his son, the singer Eliav Zohar, not everyone knows that Miki Zohar also managed the Maccabi Kiryat Gat basketball team for a decade, and even qualified for the Premier League with it.

After undergoing an image change from the predatory "executor" of the Netanyahu family, and becoming one of the more pleasant figures in the Likud team, it seems that at least one position in the incoming government will be rewarded with a minister with abilities and desires.

We don't need more than that.

Now we can only hope that Netanyahu will really give him the position.
