The high-flyer of the year has officially been determined for YouTube before the year and the associated web show are even over: The second episode of the survival show »7 vs. Wild: Panama« called »Deadly Paradise« has been promoted by the video platform to »Top Trending Video 2022«.
Since its release about three weeks ago, the hour and a half video has been viewed more than 11 million times.
By YouTube standards, »7 vs. Wild« is a very ambitious project by outdoor YouTuber Fritz Meinecke, for which he is working with producers Johannes Hovekamp and Maximilian Kovacs.
The Panama video series is the second season of the format.
Two women and five men, including Meinecke himself and the web star Knossi, try to survive on their own for seven days on the edge of a tropical island.
The participants film themselves. The eight-part video series will run throughout December.

Meanwhile, in second place on YouTube's "Top Trending Video" chart is a boxing event that was originally streamed live, the Universum Boxing Night #1.
Not necessarily the sporting, but the actual highlight of this event were fights between four web stars.
For example, Leon Machère met Standard Skill.
According to YouTube, seven million people watched the broadcast at times, which was a record in Germany.
The video maker Julien Bam secured the last place directly on the podium with »The Last Song from the Bean (Act 1) «, a very elaborately produced, almost 22-minute comedy including several pieces of music.
»Layla« at number five in the music videos
This year's top ten also included Jan Böhmermann's unveiling video about YouTuber Fynn Kliemann, as well as Rezo's reckoning with the ProSieben format »Germany's Next Top Model«.
Two videos on the Ukraine war also came in eighth and tenth place: one was a stream from the television station WELT on February 24th, the other was an explanatory video by Mirko “MrWissen2go” Drotschmann.
YouTube itself says about this year's charts that after the challenging pandemic years, they also reflect the target groups' increased need for entertainment.
The platform has listed music videos that are particularly successful in Germany separately from the classic videos.
In this ranking, the Berlin rapper Luciano is ahead with his song »Beautiful Girl«.
»Layla« by DJ Robin und Schürze, probably mentioned more than any other song in the press this summer, ranked fifth, behind »Bling Bling« by Twenty4Tim, »Big Tits« by Rammstein and »Sehnsucht« by Miksu/Macloud and t low
The band Rammstein made it into the top ten two more times with their videos for »Zeit« and »Zigzack«.
»7 vs Wild: Panama« also achieved a double success via gangs: the clip »Arrival: 24h before suspension«, which is part of a making-of series on the format, is in ninth place in the charts for classic videos.
Leeroy Matata gained the most subscriptions between the beginning of the year and mid-November.
His biggest channel is called »Leeroy wants to know!« and currently has almost 2.4 million subscribers.
