Only Korean cars manufactured in the country will be affected by the delay (photo: manufacturer's website)
Are you supposed to get a new Kia Picanto, Hyundai Kona or Chevy Trail Blazer this month?
The delivery may be delayed due to the inability to release them from customs according to the new tariffs.
Wow!
News has learned that Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman has not yet signed the new trade agreement with South Korea, which was supposed to enter into force today.
Without his signature, the process of canceling tariffs on Korean products imported to Israel will not come into effect.
In the case of cars, it is a cancellation of the 7% customs duty, but at the same time, a 12% duty will continue to be collected on video game consoles, bathtubs and sinks, and more.

Lieberman's office: the issue is under consideration
The delay will only apply to cars manufactured in Korea, such as the Kia Picanto, Stonic, Niro and EV6, Hyundai Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe, Chevrolet Trail Blazer and Genesis models.
On the other hand, it will not affect the customs clearance of Korean cars that are not produced in the country, such as the Hyundai i10 and i20 that come from Turkey, the Accent that comes from India, the Tucson that comes from the Czech Republic and the Kia Cid, Exide and Sportage that are produced in Slovakia, which are not affected by the agreement.
The Ministry of Economy stated that "The Ministry of Economy has finished the technical work to bring the free trade agreement with Korea into effect. The last step to bring the agreement into effect - signing the relevant orders - is on the desk of the Minister of Finance."
The office of the Minister of Finance stated that "the agreement reached us only now and will be examined."
