Welcome back?
After his account was "defrosted" and returned to Twitter, Donald Trump may return to star on Meta's Facebook and Instagram platforms, the Financial Times reported today (Sunday).
In the Capitol riots that took place in January 2021, an angry mob stormed the famous Hill, during a session of Congress.
The supporters of then President Trump, who was speaking in Washington, took over the Congress building and rioted there.
After that, the social network decided to remove Trump's account, following "incitement to a violent uprising".
The decision to freeze the account is expected to be published this month.

"Censorship of conservative views"
Nick Clegg, Meta's president of global affairs, which has formed a team to look into Trump's return to the platform, recently indicated that the company is considering lifting his suspension: "We believe that any private company, regardless of a person's personal views on Donald Trump, should exercise great discretion when She wants to silence political voices."
Trump's supporters claim that if they don't put him back on the platform, the "gagging" in the presidential race will continue, and that Meta is "sinning" by censoring conservative views.
On the other hand, left-wing groups in the US claim that if they reinstate his account, it would be an irresponsible step and harmful to democracy.

Another consideration in Meta, according to the report, is financial: the decision whether to return Trump's account will also have consequences for Meta's business: on the one hand, Trump's return to the platform could alienate advertisers if the content Trump publishes is considered "dangerous".
On the other hand, his return could bring in traffic, ads and users, if he chooses to run his election campaign on Facebook and Instagram for the 2024 elections.
