The series "Shadow of Truth" returns in a new fifth episode which will be called "The Decision" and will include an in-depth interview with Roman Zdorov.

The episode, also created by Yotam Gendelman, Ari Pines and Mika Timor, will be broadcast on HOT8 with the verdict, and is about 75 minutes long.

Watch sneak peeks of two segments from the episode that include parts of the interview with Zadorov (above and below).

About 15 years after he was convicted of murdering Tair Rada and sentenced to life imprisonment, Zadorov's request for a retrial was accepted and he was released to house arrest, from where he waged his fight in the retrial.

Zadorov, who was in prison until recently, will present in his own voice his version of the events that took place according to his claim from the day of the murder until now, and will try to explain why he confessed to the murder if he supposedly had nothing to do with it.

At the same time, the chapter will also deal with the evidence that led to Zadorov's retrial.

In addition to the interview with Zadorov, there will be interviews with Dr. Chen Kogel, former head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, who will respond to the cross-examination by the prosecutor's office; Zadorov's attorney, attorney Yarom Halevi;

and the former deputy head of the Shin Bet Yitzhak Ilan, which was the last interview he gave in his life, before he died of Corona.

In one of the segments in the series, Zadorov talks about his feelings following his release to house arrest. "I got out after 15 years of being in prison," he says, "and it's just not Unbelievable, everything is new, as if you came back from a life where you don't know anything.

I missed my family the most, my children, my wife, my mother.

When I was taken from the family, I lost the child.

I'm back, I didn't raise him.

It's hard to explain when you're taken and you've lost everything in seconds.

These are feelings that I don't know how to explain, even in Russian I won't be able to explain to you what I lost.

They took your life, understand it this way, in simple terms."

In the second segment, the former deputy head of the Shin Bet, Yitzhak Ilan, explains what made him leave all his occupations and voluntarily join Zadorov's defense team. The creators of the series said: "Yitzhak interviewed us in 2020, weeks before he died prematurely from complications of Corona.

He did not get to see in his lifetime that his work bore fruit, and that Roman's request for a retrial was granted a few months after he passed away.

That's why we decided to dedicate the new episode to his memory."

Ilan says in the episode, among other things: "I only became interested in the Zadorov case after I saw the series 'Shadow of Emat'. I realized, wow, it could be that an innocent person is sitting in prison. And I went the high street, I contacted his lawyer. I told him: listen, I understand investigations, I understand Russian, I want to volunteer in this case and help you as much as I can. I sat day and night, day and night, and I came to an unequivocal conclusion: Roman Zdorov is innocent, he did not kill Tair Rada. This is such a palpable false confession , so clear - says this one who has heard many false confessions, including in murders."

Zadorov says further: "My soul, I'm a sensitive person, maybe physically I'm strong but in my soul I'm weak, and I think the situation has reached such a point, that I'm without help, I feel lonely, I just broke down, and I said this to myself: on the one hand, A life sentence to sit on a case that I didn't do anything, I don't want to. But on the other hand, I can't prove my innocence, I just can't. Even though I know I'm innocent, there's nothing to do here, there's no choice. Where do I turn? There's no one to turn to, There is no one to talk to. And that's why I even admitted that I knew I was innocent."

The series "Shadow of Truth" received many reviews.

Former state attorney Shai Nitzan called the series "a danger to democracy."

Last year, the documentary film "Heavy Shadow" by director Ido Har was broadcast, in which the story of Ola Kravchenko, who stood behind the initials AK. According to the filmmaker, the creators of "Shadow of Truth" behaved dishonestly and irresponsibly towards her. In November 2021, she submitted Ola Karavchenko filed a 5.4 million NIS defamation lawsuit against the creators of "Shadow of Truth", Ari Pines and Yotam Gendelman, and against attorney Yarom Halevi, Zadorov's attorney. A month later, the documentary forum in Israel demanded from the management of the HOT8 channel that it add at the beginning of the fourth episode of the series clarification that Ola Kravchenko is not a suspect in the murder.

Tair Rada was murdered in a bathroom stall at the Nofi Golan school in Katzrin on December 6, 2006. Almost three years later, the District Court in Nazareth convicted Zadorov, a foreign citizen and resident of Katzrin, of the girl's murder.

The verdict was based on a dense web of evidence that led to his conviction.

However, since then the case has continued to occupy the media and public opinion, and despite the verdict - the judicial system has returned to discuss it several more times and leave the conviction intact.

Zadorov, who worked on flooring at Rada's school, was arrested a few days after the murder, confessed to the murder and even returned it.

Then he retracted his confession, and as the trial continued, the defense succeeded in raising doubts among the public that Zdorov was indeed the murderer.

About a year ago, the Chief Justice of Melzer ruled that he should have a retrial, and his decision is expected soon.
