Goodyear develops eco tires - made from soybean oil, rice husks and pine resin

At CES, Goodyear unveiled a tire made from 90 percent sustainable materials.

By the end of the decade, the tires should be completely climate-friendly.

The transport sector is constantly changing.

The future belongs to the more environmentally friendly electric car.

But the engine is not the only component that is not conducive to the climate. Tire wear also causes all kinds of pollutants.

Goodyear has therefore presented a sustainable tire at the CES.

The concept tire is made from materials that come from 90 percent sustainable sources.

According to Goodyear, there are 17 sustainable ingredients, including recycled polyester and plant-based components like soybean oil, rice husk waste and "biorenewable" pine rosin.

It also uses "high recycled content" steel and "ISCC-certified mass balance polymers made from biological and bio-recyclable raw materials".

What sounds like a dream of the future could soon be on the market.

Because Goodyear's eco tires have already successfully passed official and internal tests.

However, before the tires go into mass production, the company still has to sit down with its suppliers and find a way.

But that's not all: Goodyear is planning a whole range of sustainable tires.

So there should be another model that still consists of 70 percent sustainable materials.

By the end of the decade, a tire will also be available that is completely sustainable.

This tire will probably be available from dealers sooner rather than later.

The tire, which consists of 70 percent sustainable materials, is scheduled to go into production this year.

However, Goodyear does not name a price for the eco tires.
