The Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida, one of the superstars of the 1950s and 1960s, passed away at the age of 95 in a clinic in Rome - this is what a former lawyer announced today (Monday).
Lollobrigida was engaged in modeling from a young age, participated in beauty contests and at the same time also started acting.
She gradually became a successful actress, and among other things, she participated in films alongside names such as Rock Hudson, Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Sean Connery, Tony Curtis and Frank Sinatra.
She is especially remembered for her roles in the films "Beautiful but Dangerous", "Beat the Devil", "Solomon and the Queen of Sheba", "Bread, Love and Fantasy";
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" in which she played Esmeralda;
"Come September" and "American Style Divorce".
She was considered an iconic figure of those decades, declared "the most beautiful woman in the world", and became a sex symbol.

In the early 1970s, she left the world of acting and turned to a career in photojournalism, and among other things, she gained fame when she obtained an exclusive interview with Fidel Castro.
At the end of her days she also turned to politics, but was unable to be elected to the Italian or European Parliament.
She is survived by one son.
