Actor Robert Redford was asked to wear two pairs of underwear when filming intimate scenes with legendary actress Barbra Streisand in the movie "That's How We Were."
In a new book about Hollywood and the making of the film "The Way We Were", published by Robert Hoeffler, it is revealed that Redford wanted to "protect himself" and hide his erection during the scenes with Streisand.
According to the book, Streisand was deeply in love with Redford and this may be one of the reasons why Redford - who was married at the time - was careful about the intimate scenes.
"According to rumors, Barbra Streisand was a star who had affairs with many co-stars," it was further claimed.
Spokespeople for Streisand and Redford declined to comment on reports of the book being published around the world.
"Redford was reluctant to work alongside Streisand and when it came time for filming to get into bed with her, the handsome star took no chances. He wore two pairs of underwear to protect himself while the Hollywood star wore a bikini."
According to the book, during the filming of another intimate scene, Redford refused to say the line "this time it'll be better" because he was worried people would think he was a bad lover.
The two giant stars had one thing in common: they both preferred the left side of their faces to be photographed on camera.
"Radford didn't like seeing the three moles on the right side of the face."
