Spain's Eurovision preview opened last night with a cover version in Spanish of the hit "Diva" originally performed by Dana International and with which she won Eurovision in 1998.
The Spanish cover was sung by Monica Naranjo, one of the most successful singers in Spain.
This is against the background of 25 years since "Diva" won the Eurovision Song Contest, written by Yoav Ginai and composed by Zvika Pick.
Naranjo wears a headscarf and later removes it in what appears to be a sign of solidarity with the women's protest in Iran.
In the past "Diva" reached the top of the Spanish pop charts.
Dana International did not hide its excitement at the gesture, saying to Walla!
Culture: "Tali Eshkoli, the Israeli who arranged this performance, told me before the broadcast that it was going to happen. I have to admit that I really enjoyed the performance. It's nice to see a thousand faces to the 'diva' and this is one of them."
The writer of the song, Yoav Ginai, told us in response to this: "It excites me, as the writer of the song that became a symbol, together with Dana who performed and Zvika Pik composed, that even 25 years after winning Eurovision, 'Diva' continues to make waves in the world. A few months ago a version in German was released, And now this amazing Spanish version, which takes the protest in the song to identify with the Iranian women's hair protest. I'm sad that Zvika Pick can no longer be as excited as we are about this achievement of ours."
