Gynecologist Émile Daraï, indicted for violence against patients, can resume his private consultations

Implicated for "aggravated voluntary violence" on several dozen patients, he had already obtained authorization to continue

He won the case in court.

The gynecologist Émile Daraï can resume his private consultations, announces this Wednesday franceinfo.

Contacted by Le Parisien, the AP-HP did not want this decision, which was however confirmed to us by a judicial source.

Indicted for "aggravated willful violence" on more than thirty patients, he could continue his public consultations.

They take place at the Tenon hospital, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris.

The question of the presence of a third party

Private consultations, on the other hand, had been prohibited.

Emile Daraï, specialist in endometriosis, appealed this decision.

The investigating chamber ruled in his favor on January 18, pending a decision on the merits of the case.

Private consultations, which are paid more, can resume in the same establishment.

The presence of a third party is possible, as for appointments made in a public setting.

It is this point that would have weighed in the decision to make private consultations possible once again.

But at the time of the exams, the presence of this third party is not imposed on Émile Daraï.

Contacted by Le Parisien, a lawyer for the civil parties protested against this decision.

"It's scandalous, reacts Me My-Kim Yang-Paya, who defends 17 of the plaintiffs.

The decision of the examining magistrate which allowed him to continue his public consultations had already been much criticized.

This new decision allows him to exercise fully.

Pending trial, there must be a minimum of patient protection.
