Diesel is available as a B7 as well as a B0 variant.

But what is the difference and what do you have to consider when you fill up with the fuels.

Anyone who fills up their car is often spoiled for choice at the pump: the standard fuel or the premium product from the filling station?

And then there are many different types of fuel.

For petrol, for example, Super E5 or the cheaper Bio version E10.

When it comes to diesel, drivers can choose between B0 and B7.

But what is behind the abbreviations and where is the difference?

Basically, the B0 and B7 are the diesel counterparts of the Super E5 and E10.

The biofuel for gasoline engines has been available in Germany since the end of 2010.

The resource-saving B7 diesel variant has been available at filling stations since 2009.

The B stands for bio fuel.

The biodiesel is generated from renewable sources, as reported by t-online.de.

Waste materials from agriculture are used for this purpose.

This not only reduces CO₂ emissions, but also less drinking water pollution.

The number indicates the proportion of biodiesel in the fuel, which is seven percent.

The B0 diesel, on the other hand, manages without the bio additive.

This means that it can also be used at temperatures as low as -28 degrees.

It is therefore also suitable for the toughest operating conditions in agriculture or in the construction industry.

At the same time, it delivers more power with less consumption.

Diesel B7 and B0: Regular oil changes are important

The B7 fuel is the cheaper option and costs around ten cents less than the B0 diesel.

However, the law does not provide for separate labeling of B0 fuel at filling stations.

However, on many taps there is an indication that it is B7 diesel.

Unlike pure biodiesel, the B7 mixture is harmless for all vehicles.

However, drivers should make sure that the oil is changed regularly, as the added biofuel reduces the lubricity of the engine oil.

But if you stick to the inspection intervals, you don't need to worry.
