"I'm buying a new Lexus IS" someone might tell you right now, when in fact the word "new" in that sentence could be said in 2023 just as much as it could describe this car in 2013 when it was first introduced.
Because even though the car manufacturers continue to update their cars, when it comes to the real age of your car, what is written on the license is less relevant - when it was first introduced, it is already more important to know how new your "new" car really is.
Clal, planning a new car from the ground up, starts about 5-7 years before its official presentation.
Up to a year before entering production, the so-called SOP can still introduce small changes and calibrations, when it comes to advanced cars with systems that support remote updating, maybe a little less.
But not much more than that.
A large part of the story involves the complete set of "running" the huge machinery called car manufacturing from the level of factory preparation to the tenders to the final sub-suppliers of the main suppliers.

And when the investment in the development of a new car carries numbers with dizzying costs that can range from 200 million dollars for a conversion project of an existing model to billions of dollars for building a new model from the ground up - the manufacturers have all the interest in the world to continue selling you the same car for as many years as possible without touching it too much for cosmetics, unless she has no choice.
So we took all the new cars that are sold in Israel and set out to check how old they really are.
We decided to set the entry threshold at 2017 for two reasons.
The first is that, as mentioned, the development cycle of new cars is usually between 5 and 7 years, so a six-year-old car is officially a car that should stop being treated as new.

And although the following rule also has exceptions, the older a car is usually the more enjoyable it is to drive, with better steering and more transfer of sensations to the driver, at the expense of investing in multimedia.

But two other cars are surprising here.
