Licensing test.
The fees for relatively new cars that are not required to be tested will also become more expensive.
Why?
Because it is possible (Photo: Keinan Cohen)
The Ministry of Transportation is increasing its tolls by approximately 6% as of April 1, 2023. This is what the Ministry announced in recent days to entities in the automotive sector, but refrained from informing the automotive public about this, although since Minister Miri Regev's return to the office, the Ministry has been publishing daily updates about its operations.
The increase in price includes, among other things, the prices of the license fees for a one- to three-year-old vehicle, which is not required to take an annual license test at all, only paying a high license fee.
For example, a vehicle whose new price is up to NIS 106,000 will be charged a license fee of NIS 1,160, an increase of NIS 66.
A test drive for a car whose new price is NIS 106.01 to NIS 128,000 becomes more expensive by NIS 82 to NIS 1,475.
A vehicle priced at NIS 128.01 to NIS 151,000 will be charged an additional NIS 98 for a total of NIS 1,179, while a vehicle priced at NIS 151.01 to NIS 170,000 will pay an additional NIS 118 for a total of NIS 2,122.
The test fee for a car that costs NIS 170.01 to NIS 221 thousand increases by NIS 136 to NIS 2,430 and that of a vehicle that costs NIS 221.01 to 314 thousand increases by NIS 192 thousand to NIS 3,450.

Vehicles whose prices are over NIS 314,000 will pay NIS 284 more and a total of NIS 4,917 per year.
As mentioned, these are the prices for cars from the 2021-2023 models.
The license fees for older cars are less expensive, but even owners of cars more than a decade old, models 2012 and under, who drive used cars on a limited budget will now pay between NIS 35 and NIS 94 more each year.
The fee increase does not stop here.
For example, transferring ownership of a car will become more expensive by NIS 12 to NIS 235, and a motorcycle or scooter by NIS 4 to NIS 80.
The driving test fee (practical test) will increase by NIS 8 and will cost NIS 152.
A driver's license for ten years will become more expensive by NIS 24 to NIS 474.
On the other hand, the fee for the Broadcasting Authority, which finances the public broadcasting corporation whose independence the new government seeks to undermine, will not increase and will remain at NIS 144 per year.
