Film producer Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison at a trial in Los Angeles after being convicted of three more counts of rape and sexual assault.
All three charges for which Weinstein was convicted relate to the European model Jane Doe, who testified that she was raped by Weinstein in a hotel after a film festival in 2013.
Weinstein, who will turn 71 next month, is already serving 23 years in prison in New York, after being convicted by a court in New York York in third degree rape and sexual assault in another criminal trial in 2020. He is acquitted of assault charges against one of the complainants.
In his trial in Los Angeles, which lasted from October to December 2022, the prosecution alleged that Weinstein used his power to lead women to hotel rooms under the guise of a business meeting or audition, where he assaulted them.
The defense claimed that the women willingly complied.
