For many years now, Alfa Romeo has been formulating development plans that make car enthusiasts believe that the Italian manufacturer is making a real comeback to finally compete head-to-head with BMW and the other luxury brands.
And it always ends with more budgetary difficulties, cancellations of models and versions, delays and a very limited selection of models.
Like the current selection next to the new Tonale includes the Giulia and the Stelvio, which are 7 years old.
This time it looks more promising, under the new management that came from Peugeot following the merger with the Fiat Chrysler Group and the establishment of the parent company Stellentis.
At the head of the management is CEO Jean-Philippe Amperato, former CEO of Peugeot who was responsible for its comeback in the previous decade.
In an interview with the British "Carr", Amperto presented the plan designed to close the gaps in Alfa's offer, all of its competitors are presenting test models 2 to 4 times larger in number, while Alfa still does not sell a single electric car.

2024: Small electric crossover.
At Alfa, Giulietta and Mito owners are asked to wait a little while changing the car, and to wait for the small, discounted Jeep that will be launched next year.
The basis will be the platform used by the 2008 Peugeot and the new Jeep Avenger, with Alfa offering a fully electric version and a mild hybrid version.
2025: New Julia.
After nine years, Alfa will replace its executive sedan with a fully electric successor, based on the new platform of the Stelantis Group.
The plans talk about the power of 350 to 800 hp in the regular versions and 1,000 hp in the Quadripolio, with a choice between rear and dual drive.
An 800 volt electric system should allow super fast charging, and some versions will have a range of 700 km.
2026: New Stelvio
. Again as a sister model to the Giulia, with the same assemblies, and a slightly shorter range due to the crossover structure.
2027: New large crossover.
A bit sacrilegious in the eyes of Alphaists, but this is what the world's largest car markets, in China and the USA, demand: a large recreational vehicle, which will compete with the Porsche Cayenne and the BMW iX. Even before that, Alfa may launch a new
supercar this year, not yet electric. In limited production. Conversations with relevant customers are already being held and advances are being transferred to reserve a position in the queue, but a final decision on production will only be made in the next quarter
