A few days after postponing the implementation of the main function to

raise more money

, among which the account sharing charge stands out,

Netflix

also announced

a price reduction for dozens of countries

.

The company with the big “N”, a benchmark in the streaming content segment, admitted that

the measure reaches almost 10 million subscribers

in

more than 100 territories

around the world.

In January, Netflix co-CEO

Greg Peters

teased that there could be price changes down the road.

"We want users around the world to get the right value at different price points and we're doing a good job expanding that range," Peters said, adding: "There are a lot of people in countries around the world that we haven't reached and have more opportunities to attract them.

As can be seen in the list, the basic level is the one that registers the largest percentage drop in a large number of territories.

These territories, which span the Central and South America (CSA), Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Asia Pacific (APAC) regions, will see discounts for the entry-level range

from 20% to nearly 60%

, with prices dropping instantly for new and existing subscribers.

Netflix's mobile tier, offered predominantly in markets with low fixed-line broadband penetration, will see price drops ranging from 25% to 33% in most markets.

However, in the most populous countries, such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Nigeria, the level will not be discounted.

In many markets where Netflix's standard tier has been discounted, the new pricing has been in line with previous entry-level pricing.

This essentially positions the discount as

a free upgrade from Basic to Standard

.

This update increases the resolution from 720p to 1080p and allows 2 simultaneous streams.

These markets include Indonesia, Egypt, Ecuador, Morocco, and Croatia.
