Microsoft released an update for Windows 11 on Tuesday in which the new AI-supported Bing search engine is prominently placed.
According to Microsoft, users should be able to call up the function directly from the taskbar.
The group recently equipped its Bing search with a chatbot function that, like ChatGPT, can provide answers using artificial intelligence.
If you want to use the AI-supported Bing search, you still have to apply for access via a waiting list.
The function is currently still in a preview mode, which according to the company can currently be accessed by more than a million people in 169 countries.
Introducing AI search in early February, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said it was important to develop artificial intelligence in harmony with human preferences and societal norms.
"You can't do that in a lab, you can only do it out in the world."
However, around two weeks later, Microsoft initially had to reduce its chatbot to 50 questions per day and five per session after the chats got out of hand in a number of incidents (read more about how my colleague bickered with Bing because the search engine doesn't take facts very seriously).
More new features
With its Bing chatbot, Microsoft wants to build a product that competes with Open AI's ChatGPT, as well as take Google's market share in Internet searches.
According to the company, the new Windows 11 update also offers improved touch operation, innovations in widgets and AI functions in the start menu.
For Windows users with an iPhone, the Phone Link software should be of interest, with which Microsoft's operating system should be better interlocked with Apple cell phones.
However, this function is initially only available as a test version for a limited group of users.
