The cell phone manufacturers are fighting among themselves for supremacy in the field of fast charging, and currently the winner is Xiaomi: the company introduced a new technology that charges the smartphone in minutes

We haven't seen anything like this before:

a few days after announcing the international version of its flagship devices - Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro - yesterday (Tuesday) the Chinese manufacturer presented a very impressive charging capacity at an event it held as part of the International Mobile Conference in Barcelona (MWC).

The technology giant demonstrated charging a smartphone with a power of up to 300 watts - which means that a battery with a capacity of 4,100 mAh will be charged in less than 5 minutes.

According to Xiaomi, the technology is based on stronger 15C cells consisting of carbon fiber (carbon) that replaces part of the graphite cells and reduces the thickness of the electrodes by about 35%.

For the demonstration, Xiaomi used the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus smartphone, and as you can see in the video, the device reached 20 percent charge in just over a minute, and 50 percent in 2 minutes and 12 seconds.

However, throughout the demo it is possible to notice that the charger does not reach a power of 300 watts as Xiaomi promises, but a maximum power of only 290 watts.

As far as safety is concerned, Xiaomi promises that the charging device comes with Double GaN technology and includes "more than 50 safety mechanisms" that monitor the current, voltage and temperature.

Also, although it is a charger with a higher charging capacity - the charger comes in the same size as the previous generation, which included a charging capacity of 210 watts.

Last month, Realme unveiled the GT Neo 5, the first smartphone to come with a charging speed of 240 watts.

On paper, with the help of the charger included in the package, 80 seconds will charge 20% of the battery.

50% can be reached in just 4 minutes and 100% in less than 10 minutes.
