"The World According to California Man" ("Encino Man") is a youth film released in 1992.
The plot is about a caveman who comes to life in the twentieth century.
The result was a box office success, but its figures were just fine - with revenues of about 40 million dollars, the modest hit placed 39th in the list of the most successful films at the United States box office that year, after "Boomerang", "HouseSitter" and other forgotten films .
The film has fans and those who remember it with nostalgia and affection, but it can be said that it has disappeared from consciousness.
It does not have too many cultural references, and it is not in the catalog of one of the major streaming services in the United States, Netflix, etc., but is only available for purchase on iTunes and the like.
And despite all this, "The World According to California Man" has become one of the most talked about films in the world today.
The reason for this: Fate wanted and starred in it in their youth Brendan Frazier and Key Hoi Kwan, who shared the awards in the acting categories at the Oscar ceremony early in the morning - Frazier won the leading actor award for "The Whale" and Hoi Kwan won the supporting actor award for "Everything Everywhere at Once ", and that's how the two were reunited on stage, a little more than thirty years after their first meeting.
The bizarre coincidence was already mentioned in the ceremony itself, when host Jimmy Kimmel mentioned the star of the film, the underrated comedian Polly Shore, who, unlike his colleagues, did not make a comeback.
When the ceremony was over, the reactions started online.

And there were also Israeli surfers who responded on Facebook.
"To this day I have the film on VHS," wrote filmmaker Eitan Gafni.
"I love the movie. Frazier does one of the best in his roles" added screenwriter Aden Gurion.
And what do we learn from all this?
Never underestimate 90's youth comedies, and you never know how life will turn out.
Apparently Hollywood really is the dream industry
