Connects to an outlet: Waze will display charging locations for electric vehicles - voila! vehicle

The navigation app will show drivers charging options along the route, and users will be able to update about the availability of stations - but it won't be the only one offering the service

The Waze navigation application is launching a new feature that will help drivers with electric vehicles locate the locations of charging stations along the route, and choose one that has stations suitable for them.

In this way Wise will provide a solution for dozens of electric car drivers: the market share of a car with no exhaust emissions in Israel reached 10% in 2022, and from the beginning of 2023 it already stands at about 15%.

But it won't be the first: the Israeli Grivo and Cello Charge apps already offer a similar service, as does the international Pluge Share - and of course the apps of the charging companies, but these only show the positions of that company.

Gribo and Slow Charge also gained access to the charging companies and are able to show drivers whether the positions are occupied by another vehicle, and whether they are normal.

In Viz, the report of the correctness depends on other drivers and there will be no report of an occupied position.

The charging stations were mapped by Wise according to their types, including Tesla stations that are currently open only to owners of cars manufactured by the company, and allow a choice between fast, slow charging stations, and more.

Hundreds of charging stations across the country have been mapped by the Waze community and the local map editor community while users continuously check and update the app with relevant and up-to-date data.

So tracking apps already exist.

Guy Berkovich, CEO of Waze Israel: "The popularity of electric vehicles in Israel and in the world is growing rapidly and this trend is expected to continue.

The new service of mapping and navigating to the charging stations in planning the travel route will greatly help users, in Israel and around the world.

The mapping of the hundreds of charging stations in Israel is made possible thanks to the great contribution of the Waze community and our map editors."

However, unlike Slow Charge and Garibo, Waze will not be connected to the charging companies and will not be able to indicate to drivers in advance a station that is not normal, or that is in use. Such a marking will only appear If drivers have reached the top, they will mark it in the application.

To activate the feature, go to the settings screen -> vehicle details -> electric vehicle preferences -> then you can select the type of charging station. After setting up the vehicle, the charging mill icon will appear before any route planning.
