A magician was attacked on stage (@thebenmurphy_/)
A stressful video of a jealous man attacking a magician on stage in front of dozens of spectators has been circulating on social media for the past few days and is gaining millions of views.
Ben Murphy, an Australian TV host and magician, was attacked during his performance on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship on March 1, after performing a slightly intimate mouth trick with the wife of one of the spectators in the audience.
The magician said he was left "bruised all over" and "shaking" after the violent man attacked and injured him.
He shared a video online, taken by an onlooker in the crowd, where the angry man can clearly be seen attacking him. Before that, Murphy and his female volunteer from the crowd are seen holding folded playing cards in their mouths and leaning towards each other to tap them. As Murphy leans in for what appears to be a "kiss" , part of the trick in which the magician switches the card in his mouth with the card in the mouth of the volunteer, who is apparently her husband, is seen jumping on the stage and charging at Murphy. The magician is pushed back while the woman tries to stop the attacker. After the attack, the man is seen walking back out of the hall as the shocked crowd is heard chanting He was shouted at and a man from the audience was heard asking: "Is he serious?".

"Entertainment, comedy and magic are not sports involving physical contact," Murphy wrote on TikTok, "this guest should not have been allowed to enjoy the rest of his cruise."
Murphy said that he was left "physically bruised all over" from the incident: "He hit me in the head so I had several bruises and my vision was blurry," he said, "I was shocked by it."
The medical staff on the ship advised him to see a neurologist.
The magician said the audience volunteer was "lovely, laughing and really enjoying herself," 7News reported.
He added: "She danced and giggled and gave consent to all this. How terrible to ruin her fun time."
Murphy also claimed that it took a full week for the police to take a statement from him about the incident.
"Statements were supposed to be taken by the witnesses that day," he said, "it was embarrassing when they said there were no witnesses to the incident."

Many TikTok users expressed their support for Murphy in the comments.
One of them wrote: "Disgusting behavior of an immature man" and another added: "I was in the audience and my jaw almost hit the floor."
A fellow magician named Chris Herrick commented on the incident on Instagram: "If you finished the show, you deserve an award. It takes superhuman strength to be able to stay on stage afterwards."
Chris Murphy replied: "I finished the show. 25 minutes left - and I did two more shows 4 nights later."
Other commenters took the opportunity to poke fun at the attacker: "Tell me you're insecure in your relationship without telling me you're insecure in your relationship..." wrote one, while another added: "That dog ruined the magic and now I'll never know what to say was going to happen."

The Royal Caribbean company told 7News that "they cannot comment on a case that is under ongoing investigation."
Quantum of the Seas was on a five-day round trip to Queensland - departing Brisbane on February 26th and returning on March 3rd.
Chris Murphy's website claims he has done over 300 shows in the US and holds the world record for the most times someone has performed Houdini's Chinese Underwater Torture Chamber.
