Why (and how) consult in a pain center?

272 structures specializing in the management of chronic pain exist in France. However, less than 3% of the patients concerned manage to cross their doors. Experts and health authorities have reviewed the care path for these patients to facilitate the use of these structures.


The pain figures in France hurt.

More than 20% of the population suffers from chronic pain, i.e. at least 12 million French people.

Among those who are treated, two thirds are not relieved and pain is the first reason for consultation in general medicine and emergencies.

About 70% of those affected have repercussions: sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, cognitive disorders... and almost half of those with chronic pain experience sick leave for this reason.

And yet, only 3% attend a structure for the fight against pain.

For what ?

Who benefits from specialized care?
