The fight against endometriosis is finally organized in France

Launched a little over a year ago, the national strategy has initiated a positive movement to better care for patients. But regional disparities remain.


Endometriosis affects approximately 1 in 10 menstruating women. This disease, characterized by the presence of uterine lining outside the uterus, requires appropriate treatment as early as possible to prevent the pain from becoming chronic and the lesions do not extend.

Having your disease identified by a caregiver is not self-evident, however, even in 2023. The average French wait for a diagnosis was recently estimated at 7 years, many long years of painful medical wandering for the patient.

The national strategy for the fight against endometriosis presented in January 2022 by Emmanuel Macron aimed precisely to tackle this "

drama of everyday life

 ".

In addition to “ massive

” investments

 in research, the plan also provided for the development of sectors of health professionals specialized in the management of this disease, as well as an improvement in the training of nursing staff and information for the public.
