Hyundai's large family continues after a facelift that brings it to an extreme and extroverted appearance. The passenger cabin is updated with screens and the drive units remain unchanged

Although as of today, Hyundai has the widest range of crossovers in the industry, starting with the small Vanyo, a kind of super mini on heels, and ending with the huge Palisade.

Although it is firmly rooted in the worlds of electricity with the excellent Ionic 5 and the intriguing Ionic 6 which will start to be sold here after Passover.

Hyundai still believes in the large family cars (what is erroneously called "executive cars") and is renewing the Sonata for a further term against competitors that have dwindled - and today mainly count the Mazda 6, Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and Peugeot 508, none of them except the Czech and What the Kamari does not really pose a significant threat.

The new look of the front of the Sonata derives from the look that has already appeared in the new Kona, Bayon and Staria - a continuous lighting strip in front with relatively hidden lighting units under it and also giving up the look of the large and separate grill in favor of one that is integrated into the front bumper.

But while the exterior has been maintained overall, apart from a slightly different front and tail, the cabin has gone a long way from before.

It starts with a change to the data and multimedia display arrangement as seen in the Ionic 5 - two 12.3-inch screens embedded in a uniform band and moving the gear selector from the base of the central console to a new location, similar to the Ionic 5 as well - to the right and below the steering wheel.

Hyundai does not publish any information regarding interior space, engines or safety systems that will change in the renewed eighth generation, not even a hint - that is, it is likely that in these three aspects we are not expected to see extraordinary changes.

In other words, the drive units will remain a 1.6-liter 180 hp turbocharged gasoline engine and a planetary automatic transmission, and in the hybrid wing a 2.0-liter engine with an electric unit and 192 hp that will use a six-speed automatic transmission.

Also in regards to the safety systems.

Automatic braking, correction of lane deviation, warning of a vehicle in a "dead zone", adaptive cruise control, a reminder to prevent forgetting children and a warning of opening a door to an unoccupied lane.

Kalmobil, the importer of Hyundai to Israel, said that the new Sonata will be marketed in Israel in the middle of next year.
