120 days after it began to operate, the coalition remembered to re-establish the road safety sub-committee.

The establishment of the committee was decided by the Economic Committee chaired by MK David Bitan (Likud), and headed by MK Boaz Toporovsky (Yesh Atid), who also chaired it in the previous Knesset.

Since the beginning of the year, 120 people have been killed on Israel's roads since the beginning of the year (-1%), with a 166% increase in electric bicycle riders (8 people), and a 41% increase in the number of private car passengers (50 people).

Toporovsky, chairman of the Yesh Atid faction and the opposition center, who was slightly injured in a car accident about three months ago, said that "this is the third Knesset in which I am establishing the road safety subcommittee.

The carnage on the roads continues to claim victims, this is not destiny or a fringe problem, this is war.

The committee headed by me will refuse to accept a reality in which people are killed for nothing on the roads and no one gives justice.

We cannot allow bureaucracy and petty politics to cause death on the roads."

According to him, "The committee will discuss the multi-year national plan for road safety, with an emphasis on improving infrastructure on life-threatening roads such as Route 40, which only a few days ago claimed the life of the late Maayan Domanovich, increasing and adjusting the education and information system among all sectors, streamlining enforcement , increasing the presence of the police on the roads, streamlining the judicial system as well as increasing punishment, examining the nature of young people's driving in Israel and their impact on traffic accidents, continuing to implement advanced and technological solutions in the field of road safety, as part of the smart revolution and the autonomous vision in the transportation industry, and more."
