Trailer for the mini-series The Beatles: Get Back (Disney Plus)
Solo songs by Paul McCartney and John Lennon have been reimagined as Beatles songs using artificial intelligence, and they're bringing fans to tears.
First, McCartney's song "New," from the 2013 album of the same name, was put through an artificial intelligence platform to make it sound like it was recorded by The Beatles.
The remastered version of the song adds rhythm beetle harmonies, and McCartney's own vocals have been toned down to make him sound like back in the day.
The video was uploaded to YouTube six days ago by a user with the nickname Dae Lims, an account created on April 23 that has so far uploaded six artificial intelligence renderings related to the Beatles, mainly McCartney.
"New" has so far gained 92 thousand views and 1,700 likes.
Three days later, the user uploaded a Beatles arrangement of the ballad "Grow Old With Me" - a solo demo recorded by John Lennon in 1980, the year he was murdered.
With the help of artificial intelligence, the voices of his old bandmates were added, as well as a string arrangement that makes it sound like it was pulled from the "Let It Be" album.
The original song appeared on the album "Milk and Honey" in 1984, and when the Beatles' anthology was released about a decade later, it was one of the songs that the remaining band members considered reworking as a joint song ("Free As a Bird" and "Real Love" were finally chosen) .
According to the reactions on YouTube, the listeners are very excited about the new arrangements.
"I always thought this was John's most beautiful work. But when Paul's vocals came in, the tears just started rolling down my face," wrote one commenter.
"I was totally into Paul's young voice, but then John's voice came in and I got goosebumps," commented another.
"It made me cry..." wrote a third commenter.
"I think John and George would have loved this song too. It's unbelievable, just like a new Beatles song. Thank you so much for making it."
This is not the first use of artificial intelligence in the service of the Beatles.
A team on behalf of director Peter Jackson developed such technology specifically to improve the quality of sound, channels and appearance in the recordings and filming of the film "Let It Be", which eventually became the series "The Beatles: Get Back".
So far there has been no official response from the remaining Beatles, Apple, Capital Records or other rights holders of the Beatles legacy, but history shows that they will demand the removal of the works when they become aware of their existence.
