More range than Tesla, but more expensive: Hyundai Ioniq 6 in Israel - voila! Car

2023-05-08T10:08:56.092Z

Highlights: The Ioniq 6 is based on Hyundai Group's new electric platform, also used by the Kia EV6 and EV9, and the Genesis GV60. It is the first of these to be offered in Israel with a small battery with a capacity of 53 kWh, alongside the familiar one with 77 kWh. The base model with the small battery comes with 151 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds. The all-wheel drive models come with 325 hp and shorten acceleration to 5.1 seconds.

After selling more than 3,000 Ioniq 5 models here, Hyundai's importer in Israel is launching its sedan, the Ioniq 6.

The Ioniq 6 has a completely different design, which, thanks to an excellent drag coefficient of 0.21, is capable of reaching an official combined range of 614 km, one of the longest in the country. However, at the basic price, NIS 214,429, you will get a base version with a range of 237 km, and the price of the maximum range version starts at NIS 6,3.

In this way, the 22 is more expensive than the basic Tesla Model 62 at NIS 614,3, even though its official range is 602 km shorter. On the other hand, the price of the <> km version is similar to that of the Model <> Long Range, which has a slightly shorter driving range, <> km, but is more agile.

The Ioniq 6 is based on Hyundai Group's new electric platform, which is also used by the Kia EV6 and EV9, and the Genesis GV60. It is the first of these to be offered in Israel with the small battery with a capacity of 53 kWh, alongside the familiar one with 77 kWh. The first will come with rear-wheel drive only, the second also with all-wheel drive.

Like the other platform models, the Ioniq 6 is equipped with an 800-volt battery and is capable of ultra-fast charging with a maximum power of 350 kW, which allows charging 100 km in 5 minutes and 18 seconds from 10% battery to 80%. However, in Israel there is now only one such station, in Porsche's central garage in Herzliya. Paz announced last month that it would install several dozen such stations at its gas stations, but they will not start operating before the end of the year.

The dimensions are generous: 4.86 meters long, 1.88 meters wide, 1.50 meters high and a wheelbase of 2.95 meters.
The interior is similar to that of the Ioniq 5, as are the equipment specifications: a pair of 12.3-inch screens, one used for the multimedia system and the other as a dashboard, and a BOSE stereo. The Ioniq 6 will also offer V2L capability to charge other vehicles and electric vehicles, but customers will have to purchase the cable for thousands of shekels. The steering wheel is equipped with interactive lighting including 4 LEDs that show the battery charge indicator and various driving modes.

The 6 received a maximum score of 5 out of 5 stars in the European crash test, and its safety system includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control including in traffic, lane keeping, blind-spot warning and active lane departure prevention, road sign recognition, and child forgetfulness warning.
