Highlights: The sports car must change rapidly, at least that's what the auto industry thinks, and we will see the buds of this change in the coming years. We went out to group some interesting cars. Some of them have already been presented as a concept, which means that they are really ready for production and raise the level of interest in them. Some others appeared briefly in a presentation to investors, as well as some others that appeared in presentations to investors and more. The most powerful Ioniq will have 580 hp, a limited-slip differential and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.

Hyundai Ioniq 5N (Hyundai)

After driving the Abarth 500e for the first time and proving that with good intentions, sports electric cars at a relatively popular price are something that can be done, we set out to check for a moment what is going on around us?

And if the automotive industry in recent years has clearly gone to the easy places in electric vehicle marketing, those where customers will always be found, as in the construction and launch of small to medium-sized crossovers. Quite a few manufacturers look at the world of sports electricity, as a place from which to rebuild their image, and to gain an audience that is trying to find the other and the new. We went out to group some interesting cars. Some of them have already been presented as a concept, which means that they are really ready for production and raise the level of interest in them, as well as some others that appeared briefly in a presentation to investors and more.

Alpine will bring back the Renault 5 Turbo

Renault's sports brand, which revived the A110, has also entered the world of electricity. At the moment in the plans there are two cars that will definitely come out under the wings of this brand. The first is the successor to the same A110 whose trailer called E-Ternité has already been shown. Although it's not at all certain that this is the actual direction given that it is simply an A110 that has been implanted with electric drive assemblies such as a 60 kWh battery from the Megane E and a rear motor with 239 hp. The performance attached to it was acceleration to 100 in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

Which in its case comes with a 290-door configuration full of blows. There is no information on the output or performance of the car, although it can be assumed that they will be close to those of the E-Ternité, only in front-wheel drive.

MG4 gets 455 hp version

MG's new compact family car gets a lot of compliments, here too, for the choice of rear-wheel drive and for the fun and rare road handling among popular trams and in general.

But that's just the beginning. Towards the end of the year, the performance version of the MG4 is expected to be launched. It will actually have two engines, with a combined output of 455 hp, which will also produce all-wheel drive.

MG promises acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, comparable to hot petrol compacts like the Audi RS3 and Mercedes A45. Also on the menu are vector steering, improved brakes and 18-inch wheels.

Since the battery will remain the same as the regular model, with 61 kWh, the official range should be shortened to less than 400 km.

Hyundai to launch Ioniq 5 even faster

The Ioniq 5 is also an electric vehicle that is complimented for its handling of the road, in all versions, with rear- or dual-wheel drive. On the most powerful model now, it has 305 hp and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.

But power can always be added. This will happen with the Ioniq 5N, which will continue the line of the hot i10, i20, i30 and Elantra versions.

The truly powerful Ioniq will have 580 hp, a limited-slip differential and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds, Hyundai has yet to reveal how much less.

In light of the price estimates abroad, one can expect a local price tag of NIS 300,2023. The model will be officially unveiled this July.

Volkswagen: ID.3 GTX will be the electric GTI

Even the company that launched the Golf GTI 49 years ago and spawned the hot compact trend has no intention of being left out of this traffic light battle.

Later this year, Volkswagen will launch the ID.3 GTX. The letter combination GTX is the electric replacement for GTI, as the Germans have already demonstrated with the hot coupé crossover, the ID.3 GTX.

The compact and lighter sister will likely have the same power, 299 hp, which, together with all-wheel drive, will allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. Agile, but less so than the competition. The battery will be identical to that of the serial model, with 77 kWh.The lighter weight and reduced dimensions should also improve the handling of the road, but there is no doubt that MG and Hyundai will provide it with quite a challenge in this area as well.

Will the GTX get a more competitive price in return for the reduced performance? We'll know soon.

Alfa Romeo Spyder, will you go back electric? (Photo: manufacturer's website)

Alfa Romeo returns Spyder as electric

Alfa Romeo is looking at the electrification just around the corner. According to its plans, in early 2024 it will launch its first electric vehicle and from 2026 it will switch to fully electric production.

And the one that will accompany this move, at least in terms of the image that the company wants to present, is a modern incarnation of the Spyder - the legendary two-seater sports car of this manufacturer. Just note that in the previous round that tried to replicate the concept of Alpha Spyder, the results were not really encouraging. Will it end differently this time with electricity?

The basis will probably be Stellantis' STLA platform that supports batteries of between 87-104 kWh, and according to the car's purpose it will be equipped with the appropriate battery The ranges are between 500 and 800 km depending on the size of the battery and drive units with outputs of up to 440 hp.

Mazda: Pollution standards will force MX5 to be electrocuted

The car you see here hasn't been announced as an official model, and Mazda sometimes looks like a company that literally drags its feet and goes electric when kicking and screaming, but it certainly appears in the manufacturer's announcements about the medium-term plans.

Under the designation Vision Study Model was a small sports car that, apart from the fact that it is not a roadster, looks like an electric successor to the MX-5.

Due to Mazda's very flexible strategy in entering the world of electricity, which will consist of three steps – partial electrification of the existing supply, going electric in the Chinese market and a limited number of models, and then switching to full electric propulsion – it is difficult to say when exactly in this plan, which is supposed to take place by 2030, this car will fit in. At the moment, it appears that pollution requirements in Europe, which will be tightened from 2025, will require Mazda to launch at least partially electrified roadster in a plug-in version by the middle of the decade.

Porsche: A decade after the 918, the electric Boxster will arrive

Before that, Porsche's cheaper sports cars, the 718 Boxster and Cayman, will be the next to switch to electrification from the Stuttgart-based manufacturer's models.

They will be based on a shortened version of the Volkswagen Group's PPE platform, which is already used by the Porsche Taycan and Audi Itron GT.You can expect at least 400 hp, a range of at least 500 km, and rear-wheel drive will also have an option for all-wheel drive.

The price is expected to be 15% higher than that of existing gasoline models, which has made tax breaks cheaper for consumers.
