A dozen new people have been placed in custody in the case of the shipwreck of migrants in the Channel in November 2021, which had cost the lives of 27 of them, we learned this Thursday from sources close to the case. Military personnel from the Regional Operational Centre for Surveillance and Rescue Gris Nez (Pas-de-Calais) would be part of it.
According to one of these sources, some of these persons are in the process of being brought before the investigating magistrate with a view to possible indictment. On November 25, 2021, a boat of illegal immigrants capsized off Calais, while they were trying to reach the British coast.
In this case, the French authorities are suspected of having been called for help about fifteen times, without success, on the night of the shipwreck.
