It is a terrible tragedy. A ten-year-old child died on Monday after a tree fell while cycling with his family, reports La Dépêche on its website. The accident occurred on the banks of the Lacourt-Saint-Pierre canal, in the Tarn-et-Garonne.
According to the newspaper, the young boy was riding a bicycle with his parents and little sister when the tree fell. They were all also injured, reports France 3 on its website.
Several rescue interventions
The rescuers, firefighters and gendarmes, tried to move the tree under which the child was trapped, but the boy succumbed to his injuries.
The Dispatch specifies, however, that several interventions were carried out in the department after the fall of tree branches because of the strong wind.
