The Hymer ML-T 570 offers a lot of luxury for camping fans. Thanks to the all-wheel drive, the motorhome clearly stands out from the competition.
It stands out among the campers on the campsite. Hardly anyone is so high-legged, hardly anyone has a 4x4 drive. The Hymer ML-T stands out from the crowd of semi-integrated models. The distinctive all-terrain tires and the high ground clearance catch the eye of the all-wheel drive. Three models of the ML-T series – 560, 570 and 580 – can be optionally combined with all-wheel drive. There is also the top-of-the-range cross-over model with a 4x4 as standard. We tested the medium variant ML-T 570.
Hymer ML-T 570: A motorhome with a lot of comfort
The first impression: the car is high. The data: height 2.93 meters, width 2.22 meters, length 6.89 meters. Base price from 85,890 euros. The vehicle is based on the Mercedes Sprinter, the 163 hp diesel also comes from the Stuttgart-based company, which is why the Swabian logo is emblazoned at the front and rear.
To get into the driver's cab you go high, you have to pull yourself up a bit. Behind the wheel, you sit higher than some bus drivers. A little truck feeling comes up. The steering has quite a lot of play and the manual six-speed gearbox has quite long shift travel. On the motorway, however, the ML-T 570 4x4 does not roll quite as smoothly and smoothly as lowered colleagues without knobby tires. It's also a little louder in the interior, which is why the radio needs to be turned up more. And of course, the almost three-meter-high ML-T 570 is also more susceptible to wind. But thanks to the superior and comfortable suspension, it is also possible to travel properly on the motorway - most pleasantly at 100 km/h. In our test, we came up with consumption values of between eleven and 15 litres per 100 kilometres – with predominantly motorway driving. The four-cylinder diesel copes surprisingly well with the 2.86-tonner. Of course, it is only necessary to downshift on climbs. More detailed driving reports can be found here.

The ML-T 570 all-wheel drive also has its strengths off the beaten track. Where other motorhomes capitulate, it continues. Thanks to permanent all-wheel drive from Mercedes-Benz and electronically controlled torque distribution, traction and driving stability are further increased. The comparatively small turning circle is practical. This also makes manoeuvring easier in the city.

The layout of the interior is classic: behind the swivel front seats there is a table with a bench, next to the entrance door on the other side is the kitchenette with a three-burner gas grill, a sink and three large drawers. Excellent is the large compressor refrigerator (142 liters), which works practically silently. The bathroom with toilet and sink can be transformed into a spacious shower by sliding the wall with sink over the toilet. The furniture is coloured in walnut wood style as standard. There are cupboards and plenty of storage space everywhere, as well as the classic rear garage with through-loading option. In the roof, four large window hatches (one in the bathroom) provide plenty of light and ventilation. There are five 12-volt and nine 230-volt sockets (which, of course, only work when the vehicle is connected to shore power), as well as four USB ports. Its own electricity is supplied by a reinforced 95 Ah lead-acid battery. The 6 kW diesel heater provides warmth in the living area. The headroom there is 1.98 meters. Everything is well made, nothing rattles when driving. The fresh water tank has a capacity of 120 litres, the volume of waste water is 100 litres. The payload is around 600 litres.
The two longitudinal single beds in the rear, on the other hand, are not for tall people. The longer bed measures 1.89 meters, the shorter 1.79 meters. Both are 80 centimeters wide. A central section can also be used to achieve a large lying surface. It lies quite hard, there is no slatted frame. Nevertheless, it sleeps well, also because of the excellent noise and heat insulation of the vehicle. Otherwise, the ML-T 570 is absolutely comfortable. And with its all-wheel drive capabilities, it clearly stands out from the competition.
