His words are harsh and simple at the same time. They are those of a 13-year-old girl who feels lonely and helpless in the face of the bullying she suffers. Many months before her suicide on May 12, Lindsay had sent a letter to her loved ones. "Dear parents, if you are reading this letter, it is because I am surely gone. I'm sorry I did that but I couldn't get enough of the insults morning and night, the mockery of the threats. I can't take it anymore and I want to end it, "writes the harassed schoolgirl of Vendin-le-Vieil in this missive read by Me Pierre Debuisson, the lawyer of his family at a press conference this Thursday morning.

According to counsel, this letter had been addressed to the Academy, the school management and the police. It went unheeded. Four complaints have been filed by the family against them, as well as against Facebook France, which owns Instagram, for "failure to assist in danger". As part of the investigation into the death of the girl, four minors were indicted for "school bullying leading to suicide" and an adult was indicted for "death threats". All were placed under judicial control.

"Nothing will stop them because despite everything that has happened, they will always wish me harm. Sorry mom I left to join dad, "writes the schoolgirl who lost her father when she was three years old.

"I love you, goodbye"

"I hope with all my heart that what I did has served a purpose," Lindsay continues. I think what I have done will make them happy. They'll think they've won and stop it."

Already in her letter, the young woman denounces the inaction of the management of her college despite her complaints: "I could not even confide in the director because (...) He didn't want to hear anything. The only thing I could do was leave."

Lindsay ends her little letter by calling for the protection of those she loves. And especially her best friend who is also being harassed: "Pay attention to Maëlys and what could happen to her. Pay attention to yourself. I love you, goodbye." Lindsay should have turned 14 last week.
