The town of Nantua (Ain), located between Bourg-en-Bresse and the Swiss border is cordoned off at midday this Thursday. A major gendarmerie operation is taking place in this town of some 4000,<> inhabitants after a shooting broke out in the city center, reports Le Progrès.
One person would have died after these shootings which took place in the middle of the morning for reasons still unknown, indicate the regional daily and BFMTV. There would be other wounded.
The shooter is actively sought by law enforcement.

According to Le Progrès, helicopters fly over the city and soldiers wearing helmets and bullet vests crisscross the area. Schools are in lockdown and residents are advised not to leave their homes.
A crisis unit is activated in the prefecture of Ain.
