Trailer "Just Like That: Sex and the City, A New Chapter Begins" (HOT)
Surprise: Actress Kim Cattrall will reprise her role as Samantha Jones from "Sex and the City" in the second season of her sequel, "That's How It Is," U.S. media reported Thursday. Cattrall did not appear in the show's first season, and has previously made it clear that she has no intention of doing so.
Samantha's character will reportedly return for a brief guest appearance in the season finale, which was secretly filmed last March with a small cast and without the rest of the cast — Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis — in attendance.
Parker and Cattrall have a long-standing and highly publicized feud, which revolves, among other things, around attempts to produce a third film based on the series. Parker also said that the show's staff didn't even try to recruit Cattrall to Sequel. The plot of the series explained the character's absence by moving to live in London, although some contact with her is maintained through messages.
Sex and the City ran for six years, from 1998 to 2004. Sequels were later filmed in 2008 and 2010. "That's How It Is," the sequel, premiered in 2021.
