Nearly 12 million French people suffer from chronic pain, and 70% of them remain without proper treatment! These figures, presented in 2017 by the French Society for the Study and Treatment of Pain (SFTED) and confirmed by the latest survey on the health of the French last autumn, are all the more shocking as the progress made in understanding pain and its chronicization should allow better management. "When the right resources are at our disposal, we are able to offer satisfactory solutions to the vast majority of patients we see," says Professor Eric Serra, head of the Center for Study and Treatment of Pain (CETD) at Amiens University Hospital.
