500,000 euros: this is the amount of the damage of this burglary committed in the very chic sixth arrondissement of Paris during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The owners of the premises, an apartment on Jacob Street, discovered the facts when they woke up. They then notified the police around 10 a.m. "They found that the apartment had been completely searched while he slept soundly," said a source close to the case.
The thieves stole a small safe and tore it off the wall. But they also got their hands on luxury items and high-value jewelry. Investigators from the Anti-Banditry Brigade (BRB) were tasked with conducting the investigation.

A forensic team went to the scene to pick up traces and clues. She found that the front door had been broken. The apartment is equipped with a video surveillance system. But the son of the family, who returned during the night, around two o'clock in the morning, forgot to activate it. A neighborhood investigation was carried out to find out if this theft is an opportunistic act or if, on the contrary, the criminals have carried out scouting before taking action.
According to the latest survey of the ministerial statistical service of internal security, the center of Paris is the favorite area of burglars. In 2022, law enforcement counted more than 15.9 burglaries per 1,000 homes.
A little later, this Sunday, and unrelated between these two cases, a garment workshop in the eleventh arrondissement of the capital was in turn the victim of a break-in. The criminals forced the door before getting their hands on a collection of clothes and machine tools. The damage is estimated this time at EUR 80 000. The second judicial police district is responsible for investigating this theft which took place after 2 a.m. on the night of Saturday to Sunday. The premises were not protected by any alarm or video surveillance system.
